Questions
What brand owners want to know.
- What is the difference between white label, a private proprietary brand and co-packing?
- With Private White Label you own the brand and we supply an existing, non-exclusive liquid that may also be used by others. With a Private Proprietary Brand you own the brand and we develop a liquid profile specifically for it, with the recipe and IP position set out in your agreement. Co-packing is for an established liquor business: we bottle and pack your product, with liquid and dry goods either supplied by you or procured by us.
- Who owns the brand and who owns the recipe?
- You own your brand, trade marks and artwork. Ownership of the liquid recipe depends on the route: white-label liquids remain non-exclusive to BSOA, while a proprietary development is governed by the signed commercial and IP agreement. We set this out in writing before production.
- Can BSOA help if I do not yet hold all the necessary licences?
- We provide licensing support — practical guidance on compliant routes to market, what is required for your channel and how BSOA's own manufacturing licences fit into the structure. This is support, not legal advice, and exact responsibilities are defined in the contract for each route to market.
- Can BSOA source liquid, bottles, closures, labels and cartons?
- Yes. We can procure the full dry-goods pack alongside the liquid, or work with items you supply. Bottle shape, closure type, label stock and carton configuration all affect unit cost and minimum quantities, so we quote them together.
- What quantities, lead times and budget should I expect?
- It depends on the spirit, pack format and whether the liquid is existing or developed. Minimums, lead times and pricing are confirmed in your quotation once the specification is agreed — we would rather quote accurately than publish a number that does not fit your project.
- Can the product be sold in South Africa and exported?
- Both. BSOA manufactures for the South African trade and has export experience, bonded storage and documentation capability for importers, agents and distributors in other markets.
- Which BSOA products can I buy, resell or import?
- Our own brands include a Cognac-Style Brandy, LadyBloom Elderflower Gin, Bliss Gin Cannabis Flavour, NON VIR Cucumber Gin and NON VIR Pink Gin. Availability, pricing and case configurations are confirmed per market on request.
- Is my project confidential?
- Yes. Briefs, recipes, artwork and commercial terms are treated as confidential, and we are happy to work under a mutual non-disclosure agreement before detailed discussion.
